Life on Fort Myers Beach


Even though it may be still be winter, the water and sand on Fort Myers Beach are warm.  Check out all the fun events happening on our wonderful island this weekend. 


  • Friday, February 16
BAY OAKS ACTIVITIES
9am Spin Cycle; 9am Zumba; 10:30am-1:30pm Pickleball;
6-9pm Open Gym; 6:30-8:30pm Teen Basketball. Classes open to

GARDENS WALKING TOUR
10am, Mound House. Discover the native plants that make up
the gardens of the Mound House and how the Calusa Indians used
them to survive. Learn also about how native plants conserve water
and protect wildlife. $15; members free. Includes museum admission. 239-765-0865, 
ART SHOW & SALE
10am-3pm, Shell Point Retirement Community Village Church.
Art exhibition offers visual extravaganza of oil and acrylic paintings, photographs, 
watercolors, pastels, collages and other two dimensional art, all original works
by Shell Point artists. Free and open to the public. 239-454-2067. Continues SA, Feb 17
from 10am-3pm and SU, Feb 18 Noon-3pm.
KNITTING
10:30am, Beach Library. Beginners and advanced knitters are
invited to come learn knitting techniques. Bring your own needles and yarn.

BUNCHE BEACH BIRDS
7:30am, Bunche Beach. Enjoy this beautiful beach and birding
site with a Bird Patrol Guide. Bunche is an excellent spot for
both migrant and resident waders and shorebirds working the mud-
flats at low tide. Also warblers, waterfowl and raptors. Free with
paid parking ($2/hour) For more info call 707-3015.
 
GARDEN DAY
8am-noon, Lakes Park. A full morning of free education presentations and all things 
gardening. Special presentations at Train Museum on invasive species and seeds. 
The Community Garden will provide refreshments
and a presentation on butterfly gardening and what to plant when
in SWFL. Garden tours on EZ Rider tour vehicle available. Free
and open to public. Free parking by checking in at Children’s Garden archway. 
 Otherwise parking is $1/hour. Lakespark.org

SUNSET CELEBRATION
5-10pm, Times Square. Gather in Times Square to watch the sun
set and enjoy food & fun, plus a free live music concert with The Echo.
