Historic Cottage Update
Fort Myers Beach is known for its unique sights and scenery, but a very unusual one occurred during the middle of the night of June 18, 2017, when one of the most historic cottages in the history of the beach moved north down Estero Boulevard and over the Matanzas Pass Bridge on the back of a flatbed truck! Local real estate developer Joe Orlandini, working in conjunction with the Estero Island Historic Society (EIHS) and various governmental entities, saved the structure from demolition, with the hope of eventually restoring and relocating it near the EIHS Museum and Nature Center’s two existing historic cottages near the Matanzas Pass Preserve entrance at 161 Bay Road. After more than a year, however, this has yet to occur.  FULL STORY
