Ambitious Council Agenda
The Town Council of Fort Myers Beach tackled an ambitious agenda at
its meeting on Tuesday morning, January 21, with roughly 35 people in
attendance at the start. Council member Joanne Shamp was on an excused
absence, meaning all unanimous votes were 4 to 0. Of the nine scheduled Public Hearings, two received postponements.
Publix Supermarket voluntarily pulled its Second Reading & Final
Hearing for its Commercial Planned Development Ordinance to add a liquor
store to its 4791 Estero Boulevard location. Town Staff requested and
Council unanimously concurred to reschedule the Second Reading &
Final Hearing for the Land Development Code (LDC) Amendment Ordinance
for “Fences, Walls and Entrance Gates” to Monday, February 3.
Art Show Opens
Now on exhibit in the Fort Myers Beach Art Association
Gallery is the juried and judged art show, “Not the Status Quo.” On
Sunday, January 19, the FMBAA held a reception, gallery talk and awards
program for the show, which features paintings by members and
non-members. The show was judged by renowned artist, Bonnie Broitzman.
The gallery talk “Perception of Beauty” was presented by Artist and
Professor Francesco Gillia. Fresh Catch Bistro sponsored this event and
supplied refreshments. Artwork in this exhibit is available for viewing
and purchase until February 6, 2020.
